Identification

Dandelion has:

  • Broad, smooth pointed leaves that grow around the base of the flower stem.
  • Stems are large and milky inside.
  • There is only ever one plump flower per stem.
  • Roots or long tap roots that are also quite milky, usually slightly rusty orange coloured.

Cats Ear has:

  • Hairy leaves that are less pointed than Dandelion.
  • Stems are thinner and more spindly, with no milk.
  • The stems will branch off to support multiple flower heads.

Hawksweed has:

  • Leaves shaped similar to Dandelion, but that grow at the base and on the stem.
  • Stems are thinner and more spindly like Cats Ear.
  • Stems will branch off to support multiple flower heads.
